A word from one of our International Students
Victoria Sevillano
The coronavirus is a virus that affects every country. This virus affects elderly people and people with underlying health conditions in particular. Unfortunately, this virus started in China, and we didn’t think it could come to Europe. COVID-19 came to Italy, causing many deaths and then spread all over Europe. Spain is now one of the most affected countries in Europe.
This virus affected all of us but mainly the international students. Maria, Alba, Jacob and I. We needed to get back to our countries. Jacob to Germany and the rest of us to Spain.
This virus was the worst thing that could happen to us. The coronavirus made the TY year shorter for everyone, but because we live in other countries, it is even harder. We are not sure if we will be returning to Ireland to finish the school year. It is the saddest thing ever because we didn’t get a chance to say goodbye.
This virus is harder for the Spaniards; we have the second-highest death rates in the world (above China under Italy). In Spain, we are at home in quarantine for a month. We can only go outside our homes to do shopping or for medical reasons. This is not easy for us. Also, the government doesn’t know if we will be in quarantine for longer. We don’t have enough medical material, so some of the shops and people are donating them and making them like Zara.
I hope all gets better and we can be back to school soon.
