Irish Farming v Brexit
With brexit looming nobody knows what the outcome for Irish farming may be. In the case of a hard Brexit the agricultural sector will be one of the hardest hit. There are many different aspects of agriculture that can be affected, for example Beef, Dairy, tillage etc.. Beef farmers are going to be hit hard, already many are struggling to make money to feed their families. They paid too much for their cattle in the spring and beef prices have dropped since then. Farmers are not even breaking even when selling the animals and therefore beef farmers are relying on their single farm payment to prop themselves up. A lot of farmers are making a lost, something must change or we will have less farmers in our country.
