Our Ted Talk
5 ways to kill your dreams | Bel Pesce
The Ted Talk we watched was “5 ways to kill your dreams”, spoken about by Bel Pesce. We found this particularly intriguing as it outlined a huge overlap between the dreams we have and the goals we never achieve. Pesce spoke in regard to five ways to destroy these dreams, believe in overnight success, believe someone else has the answers for you, believe the fault is someone’s else’s, decide to settle when growth is guaranteed and believe the only things that matter are the dreams themselves.
We found this talk engaging as it sparks a ray of ideas towards how to actually achieve our goals, seeing this different perspective, this presented the issues in which we go wrong with our dreams. Overnight success is a result of everything we have done in our lives, the countless hours of hard work and research, and trial and error. Her authentic situation of her personal success story gave hope and motivation to us.
She motivates us to believe that only we can find the answers for our dreams and no one else has perfect answers to solve our problems. We must find our own path. “Okay is never okay“, when you reach one peak, strive to reach another. You can always improve, your potential is never ending. You can’t believe it’s everybody else’s fault, take critism and don’t make excuses. You can only learn from your mistakes.
The main point we took from this talk was that if you have a dream, it’s entirely your responsibility to make them happen. If something goes wrong it’s your responsibility to fix it. Life isn’t about the goal it’s about the journey.
