RESPONSIBILITY OF PARENTS AND PUPILS FOR OVERNIGHT TRIPS

Responsibilities of Pupils

Pupils must;

  • Adhere to the KCK code of conduct at all times and must sign a conduct adherence letter when appropriate
  • Adhere to any other code of conduct applicable to the visit/trip
  • Not take unnecessary risks
  • Follow the instructions of the leader and other staff including those at the venue where appropriate
  • Dress and behave sensibly and responsibly
  • Look out for anything that might threaten himself or herself or anyone in the groups and tell the staff about it

Any pupil whose behaviour is deemed to be unacceptable, and/or a danger to themselves or the group;

  • Prior to applying to go on the trip, may have his/her application to travel refused
  • Subsequent to applying and being accepted to go on the trip, may have his/her permission to travel revoked with no refund forthcoming
  • While on the trip may be returned home at any time during the trip and will face appropriate disciplinary sanctions

 

Responsibilities of the Parents/Guardians

Parents/Guardians should be able to make an informed decision on whether their child should go on a visit.  Parents/Guardians will be given appropriate information in writing and will be invited to any briefing sessions necessary.  Parents/Guardians must accept this policy and the school’s code of conduct and should prepare their child for the visit by reinforcing both.

 

Parents/Guardians must accept that;

  • Subsequent to applying and being accepted to go on the trip, may have his/her permission to travel revoked with no refund forthcoming
  • May be returned home at any time during the trip and will face appropriate disciplinary sanctions.  In these circumstances parents/guardians must accept the travel arrangements for the return of the pupil and agree that they will be liable for any/all additional costs.  They will also be required to meet the pupil at the airport/port/train station.

Parents/Guardians will need, where appropriate to:

  • Provide emergency contact numbers, their child’s mobile number and designate a next of kin
  • Sign the travel and health consent forms and a code of conduct adherence letter
  • Give the group leader information about their child’s emotional, psychological and physical health which might be relevant to the visit.
