Thursday 30th August Workshops
By Ali and Zoe
On Thursday 30thAugust our year was split up into two groups, half going to Tramore and half staying to do workshops. Our group were the workshop group and we had Zumba first, taken by Fabio and Nicky. We learned three dances to the songs juju on that beat, in my feelings and 80s hip hop dance moves. To take a break we learned about the history of hip hop such as it originated in New York and how it has evolved. We had lots of fun in Zumba.
After break we had a percussion lesson with Jeremy. We started off by clapping to different rhythms. He then handed out drums and we then moved on to using drumsticks. He also showed us how to half a drumstick properly. The rhythms we clapped and then played on the drums. It was easy to pick up quickly even if you’ve never played an instrument before!
In careers with Mr Stafford we were handed out our TY books and talked about work experience and job ideas, it was helpful as we learned how to set realistic goals. This day was a great start to TY!
