TY Voice – Increase in Youth Vaping
By Denis Kononov
The use of electronic cigarettes has increased among young adults, which may have a negative impact on the new generation ahead of us. These e-cigarettes were first designed for heavy-smoking adults to quit their habit of smoking, but gradually as they became more popular, teenagers also got their hands on them and the rate of vaping is now increasing. Vaping is thought to be much safer than traditional cigarettes, but the long-term effects of vaping can’t be decided by researchers as it is too new.
The e-cigarettes contain nicotine which is a highly addictive substance and it may lead to drug addiction also containing nicotine. This is a major problems among teenagers and steps have to be taken to try and prevent the spread of vaping among young adults.
Many people see it as a way to stop smoking, but it is now heading into a different unintended direction, with non-smoking people taking it up, just for entertainment. In my opinion, this should be stopped by setting up new rules such as: banning the use of e-cigarettes in certain areas, making an age restriction, or promoting anti-vaping along with anti-smoking. This should only be encouraged among young adults who have never smoked before, but however, I do understand that it may be necessary for people who have been smoking for a long period of time and it can help them, unlike teenagers.
