First Weeks in TY
by Denis Kononov
Our first weeks back have been informative and adventurous so far. We received talks from Mr. Willis and other staff about the year ahead of us and all of the activities we have to look forward to. We found out about the short courses that we do for four weeks and about the three long courses that we do over a period of nine weeks. We also met our new teachers and got our timetables, which we are gradually getting used to.
So far there have already been a few trips to different places. Over the course of two days (the 29th and 30thSept), we went surfing in Tramore, and tried different workshops such as: hip-hop dancing, percussion instruments and personal development.
On the second week, there has been a hockey trip to Amsterdam and a trip to Achill. The Achill trip included a variety of activities such as: surfing, coaststeering, cleaning a beach and a five-hour summit to sea walk. There has also been a small day trip for TY Art students to the National Craft Gallery where they studied and artist’s work.
We have also been introduced to our first two short courses and our first long course. The organisation of the Christmas market has been started by discussing new ideas for a double period and we still have to choose the theme for our Expo and the charities we would like to support.
Overall, it has been a fun experience so far and there are still plenty of different things to do in the year of our TY.
